Blackberry Syrup Recipe and Multiple Uses For It!

blackberry syrup 2

Adding sugar to the blackberries and water

This post seems perfectly fitting for a Friday. I love making my own syrups to have around the house, especially fruity ones! This blackberry syrup I created before kids and I would make delicious Blackberry gin drinks with it. Now that I have kids, I still make my gin drinks (you could change it up and use vodka or your drink of choice), but it’s also great for the kiddos pancakes, or just to mix with club soda for a tasty virgin drink.

This is a very simple recipe, as you are making just a blackberry simple syrup- yum! You can also use this with other fruit if you want to make a different flavor syrup (strawberries, rasberries, etc.)

Ingredients

  • 2 containers blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Place blackberries in a pot.
  2. Add 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar.
  3. Bring mixture to a simmer and stir until sugar is completely dissolved (5-10 minutes). I let mine simmer 10 minutes to get as much blackberry flavor as possible.
  4. Remove blackberries from the pot using a slotted spoon. Store in an airtight container. (These can be used in a drink or on top of a mountain of pancakes!)
  5. Transfer syrup to a container that is easy to pour (I use an old syrup container or a salad dressing container with an easy pour).
  6. Store in fridge and use on pancakes, in a club soda, or mix with gin and club soda for a tasty adult beverage 😛

FrosĂ©- Cool and Refreshing

Frosé with added strawberries

The temperatures are rising, and everyone is in need of a cool, refreshing drink! I obviously always think pink 😉 and FrosĂ© is just that! Refreshing, tasty, and aesthetically pleasing. I’ve already made this recipe twice and it has been a hit at both events. The first time I followed the recipe exactly, and the second time I decided to add the strawberries into it in addition to the strawberry syrup. It made it a bit sweeter and brighter, but you did end up with seeds in the drink at the end. I would recommend following the recipe, or at least blend the strawberries separate and then use a sieve to get out the seeds. Add any fun or cute garnishes and sip and enjoy… ahhh!!!!

Super Bowl Party

Who out there is hosting a Super Bowl party on Sunday? I know we are and we are so looking forward to having our friends over for some good food, fun and of course, football. Being from Denver I am sad to see that the Broncos didn’t make it to the Super Bowl this year, but I always love the commercials.

If you need help prepping for the perfect party supplies, check out Party City! They have so many great options to help ‘football up’ your gathering. Here are some fun items I picked out for our party:

You’ll notice I only bought Super Bowl specific cups, whereas everything else is just football related. I did that because if there are leftover plates or napkins I don’t have to throw them out, but could use them for any football game get-together come fall.

If you are having trouble fixing up a menu or need more fun ideas for your Super Bowl party, get some ‘Pinspiration’ on my Pinterest board titled ‘Entertaining.’ Chat you all soon!

The BEST Coconut Water

I am a coconut water expert. You name it, I’ve tried it! Harmless Coconut Water is by far, the best coconut water out there. If I close my eyes I would honestly think I was back on my Honeymoon in Hawaii, sipping out of the coconut we bought at the farmers market. Not to mention, they can be colored pink (which is my favorite color). I have only found this brand at Whole Foods, but I’m hoping they make it to other stores in the near future!
